The reflection equation goes a little something like this:
A quadratic equation has two roots, often given by the “quadratic formula”
Numerical analysts point out that blind use of this formula can lead to large mistakes in practical computations, because it is numerically unstable.
⌠ b x² dx ⌡ a
⌠ b ⎮ x² dx ⌡ a
⎡ b ⎤ ⎢ x² dx ⎥ ⎣ a ⎦
Continued fractions are an alternative to infinite decimal fractions as a notation for irrational numbers in.
One special equation in mathematics brings together many disparate constants:
- e π i + 1 = 0
- e = 2.71828… is the base of natural logarithms
- π = 3.14159… is the length of a unit semicircle
- i = √−1 is the unit for imaginary numbers
- 1 is the unit for real numbers
- 0 is the identity for addition
